Yep, that's right!
My new computer is up and running! It's been over a year since I decided I needed to replace Elora, my old computer, but the wait has been worth it. No, I'm not trashing Elora, just making her into a secondary comp.
Her name is Friday. Read Robert Heinlein's book of the same name if you want to know who she was named after.
What Friday has under the hood:
Outside- The Antec 900 Gaming Case. One word for this lovely case: FANS. (And blue LED lights.

)
Here's the product page at Antech:
[link]Power Supply: A beefy Antech TruePower Trio 650
Again, here's the page with specs:
[link]Motherboard: Friday has an Asus M3A78-CM under her hood.
The scoop on that:
[link] The Processor: Friday's chip is a sexy 64 bit AMD Phenom 4x Quad Core 9950.
Not the absolute fastest thing out there, but probably more processing power than I need...
Here's the specs:
[link]RAM: For now, Friday is packing 4GB of OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 memory. I may add more later to bring her up to the 8GB that I have room for.
The specs:
[link]Video Card: NVIDIA GEForce 9500 GT with 1GB of memory on board.
Specs:
[link]Mouse: Friday has a brand new Logitech MX400 Laser Mouse plugged into one of her USB slots. I'm leaving my old Logitech for Elora.
specs on the MX400:
[link]Her new boot drive is a 500GB SATA.
I also chucked a CD/DVD player/burner in there.
And yeah, I'm still using Windows XP Home. I know....Just don't say anything about it. I'm waiting on Windows 7.
And thanks to building her myself (with help from my Dad, =
TThealer ) she cost under a grand. I should feel guilty. I don't.

There's a few things still to get for her as money allows-
A new keyboard.
[link] New speakers. (I haven't picked out new speakers yet.)
A new mousepad.
[link]A new flat panel LCD monitor. I'd like to go a hair larger, and let Elora have this one back.
External drive enclosure for my 500GB IDE data drive. I'm not having good luck with mixing IDE/SATA. This will probably be added within a couple weeks. I need the stuff on that drive. (If you have an enclosure you like, tell me about it.)
A wireless router, so that I can get Elora back online at the same time. Elora is old, not dead.
Floppy drive/card reader combo. Got one picked out, just can't find the link at the moment.
Another smaller SATA drive to load Ubuntu on.
_______________________________
What this means to you, my faithful watchers, is that as soon as I get my 500GB data drive attached via drive enclosure, I'll be picking Apophysis back up again.
More fractals will be made!
Now I just need to finish loading my programs....
